Vitamin a acne
treatment
Vitamin A
is derived from two natural resources; the plant and animal
sources. From plants it is derived in the form of beta carotene
which on consumption, converts to vitamin A, therefore VitaminA
acne treatment from plant sources is considered a safer option.
Plant sources are: asparagus, broccoli, spinach, carrots,
turnips, sweet potatoes, watermelon, mango, pumpkin, beet
greens, chickweed, and apricot. One serving of carrots alone
yields twice the daily recommended dosage of Vitamin A. It has
been estimated that more than one third of Americans do not
consume the recommended five servings daily of vegetables and
fruits, therefore they need fortified foods or supplements to
make up the vitamin deficiency.
What are animal sources of Vitamin
A?
Animal
sources include: Cod liver oil, animal liver, Chicken liver,
Eggs, Butter, Cheese, Whole Milk and yogurt. Since Vitamin is
fat soluble, it’s excess, medically known as hypervitaminosis
may be dangerous on account of the fact that excess vitamin A
may be stored in body fat.
What are the development stages of
Acne?
Some
events, like teenage approaching puberty, use of birth control
pills, emotional stress, anxiety, chemically induced reactions,
some diseases and other events may upset the prevalent hormonal
balance. This prompts excessive production of sebum; also known
as skin oil because it is primarily intended to keep the skin
smooth, moisturized and soft. The excessive oil clogs the
sebaceous gland ducts and hair follicle, where it’s also mixed
with dead cellular material. Some bacteria like
Propionibacterium acne, can grow without oxygen. They like the
enclosed environment, and attack the hair follicle destroying
its lining which causes leakage of sebum in its environment.
Having been infected; sebum prompts immunity response which
causes inflammation, red color around acne spots, swelling or
bulging due to production of puss cells within
acne.

Vitamin a
acne treatment
One of the
most successful and perhaps most controversial too, drugs for
acne treatment is Accutane. It is derived from Vitamin and is
known for some very dangerous aftereffects, particularly
depression; which is stated to induce suicidal trends. Another
adverse side effect is about the deformation of fetus. It is
therefore very important to take accutane strictly under
medical advice and supervision. Vitamin a is fat soluble and it
is like double edged source having one great advantage and
another big demerit. Advantage is that being fat soluble, it
continues action even after stopping its consumption as
positive effects of accutane in respect of Vitamin A
acne treatment are seen even after it’s having
been discontinued.
What is Vitamin A
Hypervitaminosis?
Being fat
soluble, Vitamin A in excess of daily requirements is
continually stored in body fat, and is not excreted like water
soluble vitamins. This excessive storage at some stage may
cause ‘Hypervitaminosis’ which indicates a toxic level.
Consumption of Vitamin A for prolonged time in large amounts
may cause nerves and liver damage, therefore vitamin treatment
for Acne must be started only under medical advice and
supervision.
