Does
eating chocolate cause acne?
There are a
lot of questions in this world that cannot be fully explained
yet up to this age of modern technology. One of these eternal
questions is “Does eating chocolate cause
acne?”. If you ask different people you would probably
get different answers because most of these people will answer
you based on their own personal experiences.
Does chocolate cause
acne?
For some
people the answer would be yes and for some the answer would be
no. Based on medical findings and research, eating chocolates
would not really cause acne nor would it have any effects on
lessening or increasing the spread and growth of an acne. Acne
is basically the result when your skin produces excess sebum .
Sebum is oil which is a natural lubricant of the skin that
helps to moisturize and protects the skin. There are oil glands
known as the sebaceous glands that are attached to the hair
follicles in the skin which can be stimulated by different
factors. When these glands are stimulated the excessive oil
production would lead to clogging of the skin pores when
the skin cells will mature. This would be commonly known as
whitehead, blackhead and zits.
So to
answer the question “Does chocolate cause acne?”
according to science the answer is no.
Although science has proclaimed
that eating chocolate would not cause acne, it doesn’t mean
that you would take this as excuse to binge on
chocolates. Remember that everything in excess is not
good for the body; this would mean that it would always be
better if you eat chocolates in moderation. Chocolates are also
good for the body when taken in moderation and if you are not
one of those people of who are allergic to some ingredients
used in making chocolates.

When you
eat chocolates your body will release endorphins which can
elevate your mood and make you happier. The chocolates have
antioxidant properties which help to protect the cell from
damages and would prevent cell inflammation. Aside from
these, medical research have found out the chocolates can help
in boosting the brains capacity which would help a person to
have a better memory and improve their problem solving skills.
So to sum it up, even if the answer to the question “Does
eating chocolate cause acne?” is a no, excessive intake
would lead to problems like diabetes because chocolates contain
a lot of sugar as well. Normally kids who were eating lots of
chocolates in just one sitting had severe cases of tonsillitis
in which the tonsils were swollen making it hard to eat and
even to swallow liquids.
If you only
have a mild case of acne you can just treat it with medicated
creams or antibacterial creams however it would always be best
to see a dermatologist especially if it’s a severe case of acne
because each one of us have different skin types. There are
some who have oily skins while others would have dry skins.
Depending on the skin types there are several different ways to
treat acne.
